Visit from Aunt Tara

I am so behind on my posting! Yikes! Last Friday, Aunt Tara came to visit with Lainey and James. We had such a great time! We started out at Bubba Gumps, where everyone met Jack for the first time. James and Lainey were enamored with Jack. They kept touching him and rubbing his head. Lainey was such a big girl and even held Jack for a long time.

Then we went to the Children's Museum downtown. What a fun place! There are six different rooms that each have a theme. James loved the ball room (naturally), while Lainey enjoyed the pirate and grocery store rooms. Jack enjoyed himself as well. The cutest little laugh I've ever heard!

That evening, Tara's mom took the kids and Justin agreed to watch Jack for a few hours while we went to dinner. It started out wonderfully and we were having a great time. Drinks and pizza and lots of catch up. Then I get a phone call from Katie saying that Jack was having a hard time breathing (Katie is not one you want to deliver news...any kind of news :) ...but especially not-so-good news, she just makes it sound so much worse!) I practically jump out of my chair and mow down the waitress for the check. I call Justin who fills me in saying that Jack is upset and crying and inconsoleable. Justin had tried calling me several times and even tried calling his mom and finally my mom to get ideas on what to do. At one point, Jack was in his car seat and Justin was ready to take him to the ED!

Tara and I rush home to find Jack quiet as a mouse in Justin's arms. You could tell he had been crying though. He had a glazed over look. Then Tara picks him up and Jack lights up, smiling and talking and just a social butterfly. It was as if she had rescued him! :) Very funny!  Poor Justin was traumatized by the entire event and vowed never to watch him again. Kidding, he didn't say that. But he talked about how terrible it was for the next several days.

Jack's face in this next picture almost says," I knew I could get him to call mom back home!"

Next time, we'll just have to make sure there is plenty of thawed milk and that everyone is aware of where it is! So much for mom's first girls night out. It was fun while it lasted :) I can't say that I minded one bit getting home a little early to snuggle my sweet fella. I just LOVE HIM!

And my favorite picture of the entire day is above. Lainey pushing Jack. I said, "Strike a pose, Lainey!" and this was what I got! :) She is a hoot! Caption for this pic is "Girls just want to have FUN!" Love my friends and their babies and hope it's not so long before I see them again!

Slobber, slobber everywhere!

3/6/13

Jack turned 14 weeks yesterday! He is growing so fast! I feel like every day he is doing something new. He is able to hold toys and bring them to his mouth. He slobbers all over them as he chews. Well, he chews and slobbers all over everything. He is eating 5 ounces at a time now. He is such a big boy he is getting too heavy for me to lift easily with my arms extended...for example, I have a hard time sitting beside the tub and lifting him higher in his bath chair when he wiggles his way too low in the seat. He is literally too heavy and I have to stand or kneel over him to pick him up. I need to work out if I'm going to carry this kiddo around ;) Cute baby pictures, coming your way!

Playing around the house.

Sleepy Baby...

Slobbery baby...

Jack got his fists up to his mouth last week. That was a new thing :)

Reading Goodnight Moon with Daddy.

Jack has several favorite toys but a new favorite is the green valentines frog that Cristell got him. The arms of the frog are thin enough for him to wrap his fingers around and it's soft so he likes the texture of it in his mouth. Sofie the giraffe is another favorite. I think the rubber feels funny on his gums because he will gum that thing to death!

Jack fell asleep while we were eating dinner together Wednesday night. He was a sleepy baby.

Caption for the following pictures. "Who is that? Oh it's Mom. I'm going to bite her!"

He's gotten back on his routine and seems to be doing better with Corvetta during the day. He was chatting with her when I got home. I came into the room and he gave me a smile and then proceeded to continue talking with Corvetta! :) Jack has gotten a little particular at night. Last night and the night before he went to bed like a dream but tonight, not so much! It took me an hour and a half of rocking to settle him and then he was up after 45 minutes of sleeping. Justin is in there now. I had to tag out for a little bit. The room was beginning to close in on me. From the sounds coming across the montior, I don't think he's having much luck either ;)

Visit from Granna and Papa

Guess who came to visit this weekend?!?

GRANNA AND PAPA!! And, of course, they came bearing gifts :)

Jack really loves his new Mr. Moo, we call it. He also got a Sophie teether, guitar, soft krinkle book, and smiley face caterpillar. Granna has this spoilin' thing down pat ;)

Granna got to give Jack a bottle. The first bottle she's ever given a grand baby. Very special. And they sang, "You Are My Sunshine." I think Daddy may have gotten a little jealous. Just kidding!

I promise Papa got to hold Jack too but you wouldn't know by all the pictures I got! Playtime with Granna...just keep an eye on her...sometimes she shakes toys upside down, legs flailing ;) Haha!

Theres the proof! At least one picture with Papa. Jack fell asleep shortly after Granna and Papa left. It was such an exciting visit, he was wore out :) Thanks for coming to visit us! We had so much fun and it was just what we needed. We get a little lonely down here so it's always nice to have visitors. Especially ones that don't mind being made into a Granna taco ;)

This past week at work, things were a little better. I was at least able to make it through the day. We are installing one more nanny cam in the living room. It will be nice to drop in on Jack from time to time and watch him play with his buddy, Ms. Corvetta. Last week, I could hear her singing to him over the montior. At first I couldn't tell what it was and then all of a sudden I heard, "WIGGLE, WIGGLE, Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle." Haha!

This week Evie finds out if she is going to have a little sister or little brother. She says little sister so we'll see if she's right!
