On 9/13/13, we went to our second prenatal visit with Dr. Savage for baby Archie. This visit was for all the new genetic stuff. They do an ultrasound with all sorts of measurements, and depending on how the baby measures, they decide whether or not any additional lab work needs to be done. Justin wasn't in favor of having the genetic testing on Friday the 13th, but everything turned out well, despite the bad omen. And...we got a few cute pictures!
He/She is either waving hi or not wanting to have its picture taken.
Jack started screaming during the ultrasounds. He was tired and wanted Mommy and since he wasn't enjoying himself, he decided no one else should either. When Jack started crying, this is the face the baby made. :) I'm going to have my hands full with these two.
A few profile pics...
And that sweet little button nose!
And speaking of the wild man. He is completely crazy. At nine and half months, it was like someone flipped a switch. He has so much energy and all of a sudden, knows exactly what he wants, and wants it NOW! Super demanding and for whatever reason whiney. I like to blame it on his teeth coming in, because that way, I can convince myself that it won't last. Between that and the blunt circumcision (horrible, horrible, horrible), I guess he's got all the reason in the world to be fussy.
He got his first little tooth last Friday (9/20/13), when Katie was in town. It had been working its way through for about three weeks now and finally popped through. It's his bottom left tooth. It's sharp like a puppy's and he loves to bite on things :) Justin made smoothies the other day and Jack was drinking some, gumming at the glass, and you could hear his little tooth *clink, clink* on the glass :)
Look at my messy, independent eater. He usually does pretty well, unless he's being served carrots, he picks through those (or anything else he doesn't like) and throws them on the floor to the dogs. And the word "no" is apparently incredibly funny! He laughs and laughs and throws some more :)
My little fishy still loves bath time!
Sometimes this busy boy is too much to handle. This is a picture I sent my mom the other weekend when she was driving into town. It said, "he'll be on the back porch waiting for you." That's what she always threatened us with when we were little.
But, I don't think throwing him on the back porch would phase him at all. He LOVES outside and would live out there, eating mulch and snails, if I let him. I kid you not, the other day, I was drinking my coffee watching him play outside and saw he had a shell or something in his hand. At first, I thought I was seeing things, and then it registered that we don't have shells in our yard! I grabbed it away and it was the biggest snail I've ever seen. Pretty sure he got a few licks on it first.
And, of course, GO TIGERS! First game of the season against Georgia. Our little lucky charm helped us pull out a major win! He looks so sharp in his new polo and Clemson hat, complements of Granna! The last time we played Georgia was my freshman year, I think we were beat 30-0. I enjoyed this game much better.
Please note the piece of spaghetti down his collar. He is so funny. Today, we had some church folks stop by unexpectedly outside while Justin was loading boxes to say hi. I take Jack out to say hello and realize the kid has peanut butter in his ear! His ear! From like an hour earlier. I did my best to get it out at bath time but then noticed that he still smelling like PB when I was putting him to bed. I'll have to investigate further.
Below is the big dog my mom bought him and us doing a little shopping at Carolina Pottery. He's going to be Santa's big helper this Christmas! :)
He's a big helper all the time though...he helps empty the dryer...
Rearrange DVDs...
And unroll toilet paper...I haven't found a way for this to be handy quite yet but he's a pro!
My sweet silly boy!
Wild man, in a cage where he belongs :) Nah, he wanted to see what all the fuss was about in Kramer's kennel. He had a blast and now we have a hard time keeping him out of it. The other day, as I am rushing to get out the door, he figures out how to unlatch the kennel, Kramer runs free, and he climbs in to play with the water dish. It was such good effort on his part, I actually felt bad pulling him away...for which he was not pleased!
Wow, the walls look really green!
Oh, and he helps pull out tuperware. Daddy didn't happen to need it on this particular occasion, since he was making a smoothie but very helpful none the less.
Look this drawer has a belly button! I just love him to pieces!
