Visit to Granna and Papa's

The weekend after Father's day, we went to Lancaster to visit with Granna and Papa. It worked out well since Justin had to be near the NC and KY border for work. We had a grand time! Granna took off work on Friday so she could spend the day with Jack. We shopped until we dropped. The general rule was if Jack put two hands on the toy, it was his. Not sure if I've mentioned, but he is very grabby. Needless to say, he made out like a bandit! :)

And of course, Granna always has Jack's crib made up so comfy! He slept great! :)

We went to 131 Main for dinner that evening. Look at Granna multitasking!

The next day celebrated Papa's birthday and Father's day with a big cookout. Jojo, Pawpaw, Sherry, and Whit came down so that we wouldn't have to drive that much further. It was so much fun! They started opening presents first thing, and I thought, "oh, we need to get Cliff's card signed quickly." I go into the living room where they were opening gifts, and it turns out, the gifts were for Jack, not Cliff! That is one lucky little boy! Below is Jack reading a book Aunt Sherry got him. :)

Of course no trip to G&P's is complete without lots of porch time. We enjoyed the mornings with coffee and breakfast and evenings with crackers and wine. If you don't believe me. Just check out all the pictures of Jack on the porch with Granna!

Great visit and really enjoyed seeing everyone! Hope to make it back up there soon!

Jack's First July 4th!!

It seems like everything is a first for our little fella. This week was no different. Jack turned 7 months old exactly 7 days before July 4th. He is getting so big! We still have his 6 month checkup coming up this week so I don't have the exact stats, but so far Jack is sitting up very independently (old news, that started at 6 months), and he's in the beginning stages of pulling up on things. People mostly, but also laundry baskets and toy bins. Time to lower his crib and baby proof the place! Here are my two loves at Taco Boy...

Jack is really loving solid foods. As much as I wanted to make all his foods, that has proven very difficulty, while baby food is just so darn convenient. He really loves carrots, sweet potatoes, bananas, and apples. He is suspicious of avocado and peas. He detests green beans. Jack has also tried strawberries and blueberries which he didn't express much interest in. The more we offer, the more he seems to like new foods.

Justin wasn't feeling his best on the fourth so we laid low. Aunt Katie came into town and we stopped by the house site to check on the progress. There was a lot of rain so not much else has happened. I'm excited to head back out this weekend to see if they have started framing. We'll get more pictures soon.

We made up for our quiet Independence Day by cooking out, swimming, and enjoying sparklers the entire weekend. Jack loves his little pool we got him. The pool and sparklers were a big hit! Entertainment for hours, more like 20 minutes, but that's like hours in baby time! :)

We took a walk on Saturday and Jack got to try his first honeysuckle. I didn't figure one little drop of sweetness would hurt. He really liked getting his cheeks tickled with the flower.

On Sunday, we went to Barnes and Nobles. Jack got a new book and was introduced to Legos. He really loved them. I would stack them up and he would get a kick out of pulling them off and knocking them down. B&N is such a cool place for kids. Justin said he is looking forward to taking Jack when he is older, both getting Starbucks (latte and hot chocolate) and spending a few hours picking out books.

That evening, we were relaxing in the living room watching Pirates of the Caribbean. We actually watched all four this weekend (or had them on while we were playing, cleaning, etc).

While hanging out, Justin pulled out his guitar, so of course Jack had to see what that was all about. They had a blast. Justin would play and Jack would put his hands on the strings, feeling the vibrations, and laugh his little head off! It was the cutest thing!

I think Justin was pleased with Jack's interest in his guitar :)

Kramer got a little cuddle time too...

Look at the adorable outfit that Jack got from Aunt Britt!! It was just too much. Justin and I laughed ourselves silly and Jack ate up the attention. The look on his face when he was looking in the mirror is priceless..."Oh, check me out! Stud muffin!" I could just eat him up!!!

More to come! Hope you all had a wonderful July 4th!
