This and that

Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day! Justin way out did himself this year. He took a half day from work to clean up the house, that alone would have made me the happiest woman on the planet!! He also bought me an orchid, perfume, gift card to massage envy, and dinner at Husk. I mean wow! He made me feel bad. I only got him a subscription to Guitar World. He's a sweetie.

Husk was delicious! They had wine parings with every part of the meal and it was honestly some of the best food I've ever eaten. Period. Plus the wine was absolutely perfect with the food. Even if the wine alone wasn't so spectacular, you pair it with the food and...FLAVOR EXPLOSION! Such a great night!

Below are a few pics of things we've been doing around the condo. The first is of the wreath I made using a paper rose tutorial I found on pintrest. It wasn't difficult, my hot glue gun didn't cause too many blisters, but it was a little time consuming. I would love to get a styrofoam wreath and cover it completely.

Justin hung the shelves he got me for Christmas and we covered it with pictures. I would like to get similar frames. It's not quite there yet but I love seeing all the people I love sitting on the selves everyday.

Here is a closeup of the wreath I made from book pages stained with tea. I also have this tutorial on my pintrest. It looks so much better in person. I think I'm a little obsessed with wreathes right now. They are lovely!

I got my birthday present in the mail from Tara today. It was a beautiful frame with a small silver Eiffel Tower on it. Inside she put the pictures from our Christmas card. It was a sweet touch. She always goes the extra mile and never forgets a holiday/special occassion. She's the best!

Weekend Warriors

Today, Justin and I spent the entire day painting the condo. We got pretty far. The hallway, kitchen, and guest bath are almost completely done. I have a feeling that by tomorrow evening, they will be looking pretty spectacular. We are the most pleased with how the kitchen came out. We chose Comfort Grey by Sherwin Williams. The paint is such great quality and the color is amazing. It makes the cabinets and hardware pop. A few pics below...

We poured our blood, sweat, and tears into this weekend project. Literally. I clobbered my head on the vent above the stove, resulting in a small gash that bled and made me cry :o( But Justin came to my rescue with an ice bag and antibiotic wash. He's a good man. So good, that he even made us scallops for dinner. It was delicious!

A little bubbly while we wait...

Tada!!

It was yum! In other news, I'm really excited to hear from the guy from Lowe's regarding the bathroom tile flooring. He came on Thursday to measure. I feel like we are really making progress on this place!

Also, an update on my new years resolutions. The working out...not so much. Averaging about two day a week. Not great but a start. As for the reading more, I am rocking! In January I read Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Over 600 pages!! It was a pretty good read. I went to see the movie with Jen from work. Great movie! This month, I'm reading The Resolution for Women. It is the book that accompanies the movie Courageous. Justin is going to read The Resolution for Men. They are meant to be used as bible studies, not so much for the movie. But we are going to watch the movie after.

Speaking of, we had movie night last night and tonight! Lots of fun! We watched, Moneyball (with Brad Pitt), which was okay, I Don't Know How She Does It (with SJP), which was not okay, and The Debt (with Helen Merrin) and that was okay too. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Up too late

It has been a while since my last post and I figured I would forgo sleep this evening to post something new. I went to DC last weekend to visit the college roomies and their babies (I think we all know that's the real reason I went). Either way, fun was had by all. Especially Lainey! She got her ears pierced. I couldn't believe that "our first born" actually did it and without a single tear! It took about an hour walking around the mall to let her "think about it" (i.e. build the courage) but she was such a trooper.

She picked out heart earrings for Valentine's day. Super cute. So naturally, Aunt Jes took her to build a bear to celebrate. ;o) I think I cemented my position as best aunt in the universe. Look at those cute little hands!

Sticking with our ritual, we get a charm from Pandora each visit. We picked out a charm with hearts to commemorate our weekend with Lainey. Great memories!

Me and James...I'm such a natural ;o)

Lainey and her "aunt britt, i mean jes, i mean the dark haired aunt that plays with me." LOL!  Below is a pick of Evie, she was a little unsure of her aunt jes at first, by the end we were BFFs. Isn't she beautiful?!?

Britt and Tara took the good pictures with the real cameras. I was packing light for TSA. Except for the dog poo I stepped in that morning and totally missed ("what the heck is that smell?!?") until I got to security. Take that TSA! I swear, I'm going to end up on their persons of interest list if I keep it up. ;o)
